Natural Fabric Types

- Linen – Linen is constructed from Flax. Its one of the strongest natural fibres. it makes a perfect choice as an upholstery fabric, being naturally resistant to soiling. Makes an excellent blended fabric when mixed with cotton which makes it less susceptible to wrinkling and adds elasticity to the finished material. We clean linen using our P.H neutral cleaning solution to ensure no browning or water marks remain after cleaning.

When furniture designers are looking for a soft but durable natural fabric they choose cotton. Its rarely used alone but more often found as a blended fabric . For a high quality cotton blend look for a cotton content of around 50% cotton. It makes a perfect cushion covering, it can be cleaned with soap and water without too much concern about fabric browning.

whilst wool benefits from being a hard wearing natural fibre, it’s more commonly used as an upholstery fabric when blended with other materials to make a wool blend fibre. The composition of pure wool makes it challenging to clean which is why its normally used as a blend or as a felt.
